A new intermodal connection between the port of Venice and Montirone in the province of Brescia has begun.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

The connection is operated by the Magli Intermodal Service Group (MIS Group) in collaboration with PSA Italy’s Vecon-PSA Venice container terminal and GME Metals, a leading company in the steel industry, primarily supplying ferroalloys.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

After an initial testing phase in recent weeks, the rail connection between the docks of the Vecon-PSA terminal has been consolidated. Venice in Marghera and the Montirone intermodal terminal in the province of Brescia, one of the main hubs where the MIS Group operates to develop its MTO (Multimodal Transport Operator) services.<\/p>\n\n\n

The train will feature 23 60-foot wagons with a load capacity of 46 containers.<\/p>\n\n\n

This new solution begins with a program of 50 round-trip trains per year, with a strong commitment from all stakeholders to increase the frequency of the service by intercepting other containerized cargoes requiring a reliable and fast connection to one of the most important economic districts in Northern Italy and beyond. Thanks to the active connection between Montirone and Rotterdam, operated by the MIS group with SBB traction, customers of this new service will also be able to extend their reach to the Benelux countries and the UK, saving time and CO2 emissions compared to the transit time of services to and from the East that pass through Suez and continue beyond Gibraltar to Northern Europe, the UK, Ireland, and Scandinavia.\n\n\n

For both Montirone and international traffic, MIS can also offer last-mile transport services thanks to a fleet of its own vehicles that has exceeded 140 units, including over 160 semi-trailers. Trucks with an average age of less than 3 years, with drivers directly employed by MIS.<\/p>\n\n\n
